What is DRHP?
A DRHP (Draft Red Herring Prospectus) is a preliminary document filed by companies that want to launch their IPO to the SEBI Securities and Exchange Board of India.
Why DRHP for IPO?
This preliminary document comprises crucial details of the company, like the issue size, the company’s financial details, fund utilization, risk factors, its strategies, about company, its promoters, and lead managers, in short, every little detail that is required to get listed publicly.
Any company that wants to go public to launch its IPO is required to present a preliminary document called the DRHP to the capital regulator SEBI. Investors who are planning to invest in the company can opt for the company’s draft papers and decide whether or not they can trust the company and invest in it for the long term. In short, DRHP provides a comprehensive overview of the company’s background and journey.
How Does an SME IPO DRHP File Work?
The SME IPO process normally takes two to four months following the submission of the DRHP.
The company submits its DRHP to SEBI and the stock exchange NSE Emerge/BSE SME. After which, it takes 4 to 6 weeks for SEBI to approve for SME IPO.
Once the company gets approval to launch its SME IPO, they required to submit the final document RHP to SEBI. RHP is a finalized document that needs to be sent by the company with finalized pricing, issue size, and IPO structure. It takes 1-2 weeks for SEBI to approve the RHP.
