Molbio Diagnostics provides affordable, fast, and accurate diagnostic technologies that can be used at or near the patient (point-of-care) to detect infectious and non-infectious diseases.Â
For medium- to long-term investment, this IPO might be good. Overall, investors should carefully evaluate the company’s fundamentals, strengths, risks, and growth prospects before making any investment decision.
Strengths:
- Holding a strong established position in the molecular diagnostics market, and the “Truenat” testing system can diagnose 30 different diseases.
- The firm is backed by strong in-house R&D capabilities and a track record of developing innovative diagnostic solutions.
- It operates a scalable business model, continuously developing new diagnostic solutions and a high entry barrier, making it difficult for competitors to copy.
- Along with diagnostics, the firm expanded its capabilities into radiology and digital pathology, enabling it to offer a wide range of end-to-end healthcare solutions.Â
Weaknesses:Â
- As of FY26, a large part (83%) of the company’s revenue is derived from the top 10 customers in government and international aid agencies. Losing any of the top customers can negatively affect the business.
- Around 70.2% of Molbio’s revenue comes from selling TB diagnostic test kits. Any decline in the demand for TB testing kits can adversely affect the business and cash flow.
- Molbio may not be able to protect its patents, trademarks, and other intellectual property in all countries due to different regulations, which allows competitors to copy or use its technologies, impacting business growth.
- The firm has a high dependence on imports, with around 40% of its raw material requirements being met through imports. This exposes the company to foreign exchange fluctuations and supply chain-related risks.Â
