About the Asset Reconstruction Company
Founded in February 2002, Asset Reconstruction helps banks and financial institutions recover money from bad or stressed loans. The company basically buys these troubled loans from banks and other financial institutions and then tries to recover the money through different strategies like restructuring, settlement, legal action, enforcement of assets, and collections.
Its business is mainly divided into three areas: corporate loans, SME and other loans, and retail loans. It works with banks, financial institutions, NBFCs, and housing finance companies to acquire stressed loans and has also been expanding its retail loan business. The company received approval from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) in August 2003 to start its asset reconstruction business and is recognised as the first Asset Reconstruction Company (ARC) incorporated in India.
